Crime Rate - 2/22/2009
I lived on this island from the time I was 7 years old to 27. This is a very safe place to live. I disagree that the crime rate is 6. It should be a 1, at best. There is virtually no violent crime. Grosse Ile is an island with two bridges. If you commit a major crime, the bridges on both ends of the island close. To get off the island, you would have to go by boat. It is a 10 mile by 2 mile island with some small islands that are private or submerged in water. My biggest criticism is the lack of cultural diversity. One street that is it's "business district". If you want a crime free, very quiet tranquil place to live, retire, and boat than this is the place to be. If you want some nightlife and diversity, don't live here.
