I lived in Highland Park for 6 months when I first moved to Michigan. I have to tell you it was the most fearful time of my life. I heard gun shots most nights and sirens were so frequent that it was more obvious when you didn't hear them. More homes were vacant, burned out, or so dilapidated that they were condimable but the city is so poor that they can't afford to knock them down. At the time I lived there they had no city government, no police department, no fire department, etc. I cannot understand why the City of Detroit (which surround - literally) Highland Park isn't trying to help this city out. There are some families in Highland Park that have been there for many gerations and have done their best to keep their neighborhoods but are loosing the battle. This is such a Read More
