Was glad to leave - 10/29/2006
I lived in Michigan my entire life, until one year ago. The unemployment in the state is at an all time high. I do not foresee the economic distress changing anytime soon. After all, the planning was built on automotive and manufacturing.
I did enjoy the relatively low cost of living but the area is not that safe. For its small size, there is a lot of crime. A lot of people are mixed up on drugs.
Otherwise, this is a typical working class city in Michigan. Older homes, and lots of retail and medical. I can say this, I received the best medical care while I was there.
I have since moved to a large city in the NW of the U.S. and there is high competition for any type of public services.

Actually live in Macomb. Property values are declining and unemployment is over 7 %. Houses stay on the Market for over a year. Very Automotive
