Pretty average - 4/26/2021
I’ve lived here for a couple of years now and overall it’s been ok. Okemos, is generally pretty similar to most other small towns in Michigan. However, it’s slightly set apart due to its proximity to Lansing and East Lansing, which means it’s more diverse and there’s a bit more to do here than other close towns such as Holt or Williamstown for example.
Positives:
It’s quiet and safe, of course this’ll vary depending on which neighborhood you’re in, as well as your distance to east lansing, but for the most part it’s pretty mellow.
The school system is pretty good, okemos high school is considered one of the best high schools in Michigan and I’ve met people who’ve moved here just for the schooling system.
There’s a lot of conserved woodsy trails and parks, not really much “hiking” since okemos tends to be flat, but still quite a bit of nature which is nice.
