I was born there - 5/2/2009
I was born in Echo, MN in my parents home in 1955 back when the doctor came to the house to deliver the babies if you wanted. I lived there until I was 9 1/2 years old. It was a great place to live back then. There were about 450 people in the town's population.
I have many fond memories of our years there. They had a dentist, a doctor, a drug store, a hardware store, a post office, two restaurants, the grain elevator, two gas stations, a bank, a municipal liquor store, a newspaper, a grocery store, a hotel, a laundromat, a John Deere implement dealer, the school and several churches. I am sure there other businesses then that I was not aware of. Many of them are gone now.
There use to be free movies outdoors by the grain elevator every Saturday night in the summer. It was a big deal for everyone. My dad owned the local egg produce there as well. They even had a police officer named Gus.
