I live in Virignia but own property in Brookhaven (about 19 miles north of McComb) and have friends in McComb and Brookhaven. I think McComb is a gem of a town. It is a prosperous small Southern City will a forward looking outlook. It has many industries and a robust business base. It is located on I-55, has freight rail and scheduled Amtrak serice; it has a sophiscated hospital and is a medical and shopping hub for a multi-county area. It has many beautiful in town neighborhoods and nice homes on acreage just outside town. The countryside around McComb is gorgeous (lakes, rolling hills, farmland). Percy Quin State Park is an excellent facility for golf and outdoor recreation and is located a few miles south of McComb. McComb is 90 minutes from downtown New Orleans and via I-55 and is 1 hr 15 minutes to the New Orleans International Airport. Jackson and Baton Rogue are also 90 minutes away. people in mccomb have several neighborhoods to choose from, mostly one race,mixed working class, retirement,upper middle class, all sections are well kept up, laid back and can accommodate all levels of household income, newer named restaurants, hospital, medical specialist, variety of churches,state park nearby,country living if you choose,large mall,the negative is low pay for the available jobs in the city,county area, most working adults with lower middle income 45000-100000 work out of town, for oil field industry in gulf of mexico and beyond. The police are more likely to be helpful and mindful of your rights, just dont drink and drive,county known for setting up road blocks at the most unusual spots and times, taxes are low on homes, the weather is not really extreme, jan feb 20s 30s 40s march april may 40s 50s 60s 70s june july august sept 80s 90s oct nov dec 70s 60s 50s 40s temperatures, concerns can be tornado which you get more warning sirens then actual damage.
