My hometown of historic Shelby, in the early 70's through the 80's, was a great place to grow up . The living was hard but the people of the Mississippi Delta town of Shelby worked harder. Families teamed in conjunction with the schools and churches to raise children instilling in them the enduring work ethnic of succeeding. Although manifesting itself in in contemporary ways, the fruit of their labor is present in the perserverance of citizens who have remained in beautiful Shelby even in the face of huge declines in growth, development and population. Consequently, I say Kudos! to Shelbians who strive for the quality small town living that resembles that of my early childhood. Moreover, I challenge benefactor's of the same to give of their talents back to that which helped to cultivate it, Incredible Shelby,
