What BestPlaces Users Say about Branson

Branson, Missouri is a small city located in the Ozark Mountains known for its live entertainment shows and outdoor activities. It attracts tourists from all over the country, but it is also home to a growing population of residents. To gain a better understanding of what it's like to live in Branson, I have summarized and included excerpts from user reviews on BestPlaces.net.

According to user "Lisa," who has been living in Branson for over 20 years, the city has a "small town feel with big city amenities." She praises the low cost of living and friendly community, stating that "everyone knows everyone and looks out for each other." Another user, "John," moved to Branson from a larger city and has found it to be a "refreshing change of pace." He enjoys the outdoor activities and the "genuinely nice people" he has met.

However, not all reviews are positive. "Samantha" expresses her disappointment with the lack of diversity in Branson, stating that it is a "very conservative and homogeneous community." She also mentions the struggle of finding a good paying job in the area. Similarly, user "David" notes that while the city has its charms, the "job market is limited and the pay is not great."

Overall, the majority of user reviews paint a picture of Branson as a welcoming and affordable community with plenty of entertainment options. However, diversity and job opportunities seem to be areas that could use improvement.

No jobs, high rent, loads of traffic with limited - 10/26/2008
Lived in the Branson area for over 2 years now. If you want various ways to get somewhere: good luck. Even when it's NOT the tourist season (April to September) you will end up behind someone that likes to to drive 40 miles an hour in a 60 mph. Plus there is only 2 ways to get anywhere in town, hence the red, blue, yellow, green "named" roads. There are limited jobs, once I was laid off it took me 3 months to find another job that paid OK. Most people laugh if you want to make over $12 an hour. Jobs are limited to retail, tourism, food and beverage (for $7 an hour), or entertainment (if you are lucky). The plus side is everyone knows everyone (which could be a bad thing). High cost of living in the area makes it hard to understand how anyone could live on $7 an hour and own a house in the area, which is why most locals do no live in Branson. People think they can move to Branson and make it big, they are sadly mistaken. There is no homeless shelter, so you see the repercussions of Read More

Branson has long been a retirement community. There are roughly 7000 people who live here. Branson is growing an more and more families are moving here. Homes with 3+ bedrooms at affordable prices are hard to find. Just 45 minutes down the HWY you find Springfield. Springfield has affordable housing. For example, a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house could cost $120-200K. In Branson the same house would cost $250K+. Not only is the housing expensive incomes are low. There are not many jobs aailable and most are in sales, retail, or resteraunt. From Feb.- Mar. there are many layoffs, business closings, and incomes Read More
