Hannibal, Missouri is a small town located along the Mississippi River in Northeastern Missouri. It is well-known for its many historical attractions, including Mark Twain Cave and Tom Sawyer’s Whitewashing Fence, as well as several other sites related to the famous writer. It also boasts a variety of outdoor activities such as fishing, boating, canoeing, and biking along the trails in nearby parks. With its rich history and natural beauty, it's no wonder that Hannibal has been given glowing reviews by tourists. From its friendly locals to its quaint shops and restaurants, visitors often remark on how much they enjoy their visit. The city also offers a number of festivals throughout the year that draw crowds from all over. With so many things to do and explore in Hannibal, it's no surprise many visitors return time and again!

My View of Hannibal - 5/23/2009
I grew up in Hannibal, MO. It has advantages of low cost of living and a beautiful River View Park. It is a small town where everyone knows everybody. If they don't like you, you'll know it. If you like that type of living I'd say go for it. The disadvantages are any business that gets started in Hannibal never last, I have witnessed this for 4 generations. Recently they had several clothing stores andvideo stores close. Basically nothing last there. Crime has gone up in Hannibal. There has been several murders in the last year. It is not properly run in my opinion. There is nothing to do. I would recommend a near by close town called Quincy, Il approx 15 to 20 miles from Hannibal. Hannibal - Pros/Cons - 2/9/2008
Pros:
1. Low crime rate
2. Extremely low cost of living
3. Affordable place to live
4. Good school system
5. Very nice downtown
6. The Mark Twain amenities, such as Mark Twain Cave and Mark Twain's childhood home
7. Mark Twain Lake is nearby
8. An overall good place to live and raise a family

Cons:
1. Very polluted -- lots of illegal trash dumping
2. Not very much to do aside from the amenities listed above

Only real problems Hannibal has had going all the way back to Samual Clemens are those typical of small town petty politics which seem to always plague it.
