Decent Town - 7/19/2022
The people here are what makes this town. Most are nice and friendly if talked to. When we bought our home here 7 years ago we were immediately accepted by our neighbors. There's enough places to shop, dine out or do takeout. I just wish Chick-fil-A and Whataburger would open up here lol. No school age kids so I can't give an opinion on the schools, sorry. Read More

Poplar Bluff is a good place to raise a family, especially if you are politically conservative and religious. The cost of living is very low on virtually every category and there is little crime. Of course, there are trade-offs. The area is relatively isolated, located about 2.5 to 3 hours from the major cities of St. Louis and Memphis. Shopping and cultural activities are limited. Employment opportunities are probably pretty good for a town of just under 20,000, but wages are a bit depressed. The people here are hard-working, but many don't have as much appreciation for the finer things of life as some of us would like.
