What BestPlaces Users Say about Troy

Montana is known for its rugged landscapes and small towns, and Troy is no exception. Located in the northwestern part of the state, Troy is a small town with a population of just over 900 residents. It's a popular spot for outdoor enthusiasts, with plenty of opportunities for hiking, fishing, and hunting. However, living in a small town like Troy may not be for everyone. Let's take a look at what some users have to say about their experience living in Troy.

According to user "JohnDoe" on BestPlaces.net, Troy is a "charming little town" with "friendly and welcoming people." He goes on to mention the beautiful nature surrounding the area and the ease of access to outdoor activities. However, he also notes that "the town is very small and can feel isolated at times."

Another user, "NatureLover," shares similar sentiments about the natural beauty of Troy. They mention the "stunning views of the mountains" and the "peaceful and quiet" atmosphere. However, they also mention the lack of job opportunities and the long drives to nearby cities for necessities.

In contrast, user "CitySlicker" has a different perspective on Troy. They mention feeling "out of place" in the small town and having a hard time adjusting to the slower pace of life. They also mention the limited shopping and dining options in town as a downside.

On the other hand, "AdventureSeeker" has a positive outlook on living in Troy. They mention the "tight-knit community" and the "strong sense of belonging." They also appreciate the low cost of living and the friendly neighbors.

Overall, it seems that living in Troy is a unique experience for each individual. While the natural surroundings and welcoming community are praised by many, some may struggle with the small town lifestyle and limited amenities. It's important to carefully consider these factors before making the decision to live in Troy.

Troy is a good vacation spot but not for full time living. It’s a beautiful area but so are most mountainous areas. Cons- lots of poverty, poor health care, fires make it difficult to see the beautiful scenery and breath. Pros- low crime rate, no traffic, outdoor activities. Good place to “get away from it all”. Read More

Troy,Montana a Little Slice of Heaven - 1/22/2017
Troy has similar problems to all towns.
Let's take a look at what Troy really has to offer. The Cabinet Mountains are a narrow line of snow capped peaks, glacial lakes, valleys cut by icy streams, and cascading waterfalls. The high mountain trails & lakes are a Hiker’s, backpacker's and fisherman's delight. I have a small cabin right on the Kootenai at the edge of town. Which brings in scores of outsiders and they have great reviews of our town. We have wildlife that roam the town. The swinging Bridge, Ross Creek Cedars and great scenic byways. Welfare or bust! - 5/10/2011
I grew up in this town and it is a mess. The school system was full of child molesters and the mayors snorted cocaine. There are no jobs and the asbestos from Libby MT is present in this town. Pretty country, no doubt, but that is all it is. The police force has always been corrupted and the town council and mayor fight without Read More
