Great City! - 4/16/2006
Excellent city! Lincoln, NE is a great place for people who want a balance between a big city and small town atmosphere. While appealing to a younger crowd with many nighttime life opportunities downtown, Lincoln is also a terrific place for a family. Lincoln has a very low crime rate (with the exception of a few small areas), excellent schools, dozens and dozens of well kept parks, 100 miles of paved walking and biking trails, a couple of nice malls (including an outdoor one in S. Lincoln), hundreds of restaraunts (with a nice mix of local shops and national chain restaraunts).. The only downfall would be the winters and the severe thunderstorms that sometimes occur! But overall Lincoln is a terrific place to live. I HIGHLY recommend Lincoln as a place to raise a family and is also quite a bit of fun for students pursuing a university

Living in Lincoln - 12/1/2005
It was TOUGH to adjust to living here. Culture shock, other comments posted are true. The only thing, it was a great place to raise my sons. They literally could take their fishing poles and go, safety was not an issue. Now, in middle age the deep freeze of winter Hurts, and the heat and bugs of the summer are very uncomfortable. Nebraska has the highest percentage of dual income households in the nation, as wages are not the best and women are forced to work vs staying home to raise children if that were their preferance. If you look, there are little gems in Nebraska. Must be adventerous to find

I completely agree with the comment from Alli. Lincoln is incredibley boring and there is virtually nothing to do, unless you are obsessed with Huskers football. I will say the city is a nice, clean and safe place to raise kids. However, the activities in Lincoln are very very limited. The one other thing that I disliked is the extremes with the weather. Extreme humidity in the summer, extreme wind ALL THE TIME, and extreme dry bitterness in the winter. I lived there for over 13 years before finally making the decision to escape. Escape I did, to the great cities of Minneapolis-St. Paul. Yes, winters in Minneapolis are cold, but at least every other season is great. If you want a place with a lot to do, you might want to reconsider moving to Lincoln,
