Reno is the armpit of the US! - 9/23/2008
I've lived here most of my life....Ick!
"The Dirtiest Little City in the World" that's what Reno is. It is getting worse everyday. We have a growing homeless population as shown in the "tent city" growth and all the panhandlers. Housing is horribly expensive and the average person cannot make a living here. Who would want to? They try to attract tourism with hoaxes like The Balloon Races, The Air Races, Hot August Nights and Street Vibrations. All the same thing, except one is with balloons, one with cars and then there's planes and bikes; but still there's all the same hoaxy crafters with their booths and kiosks. Nothing much going on at any of these events. Town is full of crack-heads, gambling addicts and alcoholics. The police don't fight crime, they're too busy pulling over the few hard-working professionals for minor traffic violations. That way they look busy without really doing their jobs. Yes, the police are as stupid as they are on the show "Reno

Reno is an armpit! - 9/23/2008
OK, I have lived here most of my life. I have traveled far and wide, around the world. This is by far the dirtiest little city in the world. Just look at it! People are pigs. There are meth addicts everywhere and a huge population of homeless people that live in "tent city". More and more Californians are moving in, so the economy is becomming just as screwed up as anywhere in California. Cost of housing is outrageous. People are rude, obnoxious, everyone is in a bad mood. If they aren't suffering from a drug addiction, they're alcoholics or gambling addicts. The police are too busy giving the few hard-working individuals traffic tickets to be concerned with the real crime. The police avoid the real crime because that would mean they have to work and do their job. They truely are idiots like the "Reno 911" show. There is no "customer service" in this town Everyone is just downright rude. They are trying to make it a tourist destination by bringing in events like the

Reno is a great place to live! - 8/29/2008
I’ve lived in New York City, Hawaii, Alaska, North & Southern California and the Reno area is a great place to live. More so if you’ve managed to escape from behind the ‘Tofu Curtain’ also known as the Volks Republik of California (yes I’m an ex- Californian). More high tech companies are bailing from California every week and many are relocating to Northern Nevada and not just because of the confiscatory tax rates (but frankly that’s more than reason enough). Reno has a better quality of life, decent freedom loving Americans, as well as a State wide pro-business atmosphere (unlike California). 2007 saw more citizens leaving California than came in, EXCEPT for illegal aliens, who are now coming in at a record rate, as other western states crack down because they don’t want to become “another” California.
Crime in Reno? Spare me. For the population size, Reno has nothing compared to ANY similar size city in the once golden State. Ever wonder why the majority of retired law

Reno-the biggest little farce in the world! - 4/8/2008
My wife and I moved to Reno in Dec. 07, we cant wait to get out of here! The people are very nice, but the crime is out of control. There is not a sign or wall in this town that doesnt have graffitti! My wife had her Identity stolen by a local right after we moved here. Reno is the #1 spot in the country for internet fraud! Lots of homeless! No jobs! Its WAAAAAAY to windy here! And so many punk kids..Cops are lazy too. Dont do Reno the Favor of moving here ...unless you are an illigal, then you will fit right

nice people, relaxed - 2/10/2008
My husband and I relocated to Reno from San Diego for my job. Moving from San Diego to Reno was quite the culture clash, especially since my husband is a San Diego native. Overall, Reno is a nice place to live, nice people, good cost of living (compared tto Southern Cal), pretty much everything you need. Only drawback is no spors teams. One thing to note about Reno, the freeways go through the ugliest parts. If you really want to see what Reno looks like take some of the main drags and avoid the freeway. If you are relocating try to move to South Reno, Northwest Reno, or old suburban Reno, stay away from the "north valleys". We made the mistake of choosing the community of Stead because the rent was cheap and the neighborhood had good crime stats. We regretted it pretty quick. You have to drive for 15 minutes to get to any good restaurants, movies, work, shopping etc. Plus, when the weather's bad we get the worst of it (higher elevation) and the city doesn't seem to care that the

There is no place like Reno, NV - 1/26/2008
I love my country and have been in every state in the United States. I was in the music business all my life and I can tell you I always come back to Reno, NV. There is no place like it. It has everything. The secret is out, but I still love it. I have been living there since the 1960's in fact my first job was in Reno. For the past 4 and a half years I have been in Overton, NV just North of Vegas and I am so home sick that I can't stand it. We are hoping to be back in Reno this year and I will never leave again. I have never missed anything like I do that area. The recreation area is the best with Tahoe, Boca Dam and surounding area. The Truckee River runs right through town. You are close to the town of Truckee and Nevada City and on the almost on the border of Calif. The Entertainment there is great. I miss it and will be there

I can't wait to move! - 1/25/2008
I guess if you moved from the bay area this place may seem great. But if you have ever lived any place that was clean and nice than don't expect much from Reno. I came here knowing it wasn't first on my list but because of family I took the chance. I enjoy the weather and there is a ton of stuff to do here (besides gambling) the shows and outdoor activities are great.
Even though there are some things I like it doesn't outweigh the bad for me.
By bad I mean, crime, gangs, poorly planned roads, and a lot of trashy people.
This place is a transient town people come and go and the bums are everywhere begging for money, doesn't matter if your are at the book store or downtown they are everywhere.
I know there are some people that can look over those things but for me there is just too many negatives.
So if you are thinking of moving to the Reno/Sparks are come and visit and go where the residents go on a daily bases not just where your real estate agent takes
