The area also offers plenty of shopping opportunities with local stores offering unique items. In addition, it has great restaurants that serve delicious meals with top-notch service. Visitors often comment positively on the friendly locals and their welcoming attitude towards visitors. quality of life - 8/5/2009
Spring Valley, at one time was a lovely small place to live, we were in the upper elevation of the valley with some distance between us and the rest of Las Vegas. Recently our quality of life has dropped severely. Partly due to growth, more so due to lack of involvement by the county government representative. The County Codes and Rules are not being enforced, even when brought to the attention of authorities. because of this the typical domino effect is taking place. It is heartbreaking to see not only a life investment being destroyed, but the neighborhood, once well groomed and orderly, being taken over by people being allowed to not care. I have lived in Spring Valley for 33 years. Same house, raised three children and all the things that go with that. We were among the first wave of residents back in 1977. The elementary school C.H.Decker was just completed, my wife transfered into Decker from Ruby Thomas. My wife spent the next 20 yrs or so at C.H.Decker. I coached soccer for neighborhood kids for 4 years, all games and practice within walking distance of our home. The neighborhoods were lovely, Lawns manicured, Homes maintained, it was a truly great place to live. Unfortunately our representation within the county commission is non-existent. I have written emails and receive no response. In the meantime the neighborhoods are going down the tubes. It is a crying shame that this small town, Spring Valley, which should have ample representation receives none.
