I have lived in Ballston Spa for the last year. The Southside of town is very cute, beautiful homes and friendly people. We bought a house on the Northside. I'm not sure if it's the water or cheaper homes but people are entirely different on the Northside. They do not take much pride in the care of thier homes (ex. old appliances in their backyards)and throw cigarettes everywhere. It's a shame that some people make an effort and some folks could careless. Most people in the town are very nice. The downtown has great bones and a lot of potential. Village Life - 6/9/2006
Lousy climate, as is most of upstate NY: long cloudy periods, long winters, humid.
Cost of living high for what you get. High taxes don't buy much improvement to infrastructure.
Quality of life in this village is quite good overall. The village is walkable, safe, & has a pleasant variety of restaurants, shops, art galleries & museums. There are wonderful examples of architecture from the Victorian era easily accessed by foot or car. The village is the county seat so government services are convenient.
