Take it from a Resident... - 6/7/2023
Please note, the previous rating of one star was given by a non-resident of our city. I will not get into the politics of the city management as they did, all towns have their political issues. But I will give my opinion of my experience of living in this small little city.
I am a young professional raising children in the city of Somersworth. Our community is centrally located to have access to all the recreation of the White Mountains or the Atlantic Sea beaches and Great Bay within 30-40 Min. For more cultural and city experiences Boston or Portland are only about 1 hr- 1.5 hrs away. While the surrounding towns are growing and becoming more cost prohibitive our town still maintains its small town charm and affordability. The teachers of our community are incredible!! They go above and beyond to ensure that our children are gaining enriching ezperiences and every other week we get letters from our children's schools letting us know of what the children are learning, Read More

Failing town on a hill - 4/23/2020
This is a sad little town that used to be inhabitated by a majority of French
Canadians (who could not speak English) and were employeed by GE, Prime Tanning and the Shoe Shops. Now that generation is dying off, their spawn have moved elsewhere and GE, Prime Tanning and the Shoe Shops have since closed their doors. If that wasn't bad enough, the town is mismanaged by a mayor (who also is the junior high school principal - I kid you not). You would think a town that is run by a school principal would have a great school rating - nope. The school system is failing just as badly as Somersworth's economy.
Not much hope in this sad little town. Consider moving to a more dynamic community like neighboring Dover or Rochester.  Read More
