Camden is not the best place to live. There are alot of murders and way to many drugs. But some parts aint has bad as others. East Camden is the most dangerous and Polock is pretty bad. Downtown is one of the better places and aint as bad as the others. The schools aint that great either. Camden High and Woodrow Wilson are the two high schools. Alot of fights and are dangerous. Can the Past be Prologue for the Future? - 5/7/2007
I spent much of my formative years in Camden and Southern New Jersey. My father was a dentist with offices in the area. My grandparents arrived in Camden during the 1890s, and in the past, Camden had a rich and vibrant economy with a large working class population, boasting major world class manufacturers, including RCA Victor, Hollingshead, Esterbrook Pen, New York Shipbuilding, Campbell Soup and other manufacturing organizations. It's elementary, middle, and high schools were excellent, with students graduating and entering the trades, professions and business. My three uncles all attended Camden High School (1904, 1918, and 1920)and received competitive academic scholarships to the University of Pennsylvania where they received their medical degrees. My grandparents and father built a number of houses in Camden. The city had an excellent library and transportation system.
