A Great Little Town - 7/1/2008
We are transplanted New Yorkers and this is our second NJ town in five years (Bogota was the first and it was not for us).
We chose Fanwood because of its proximity to NYC and all it has to offer in terms of culture and recreation. We decided to pass up the pricer town of Westfield. Fanwood is less than a three minute drive to downtown westfield and shares their public schools with Scotch Plains. There are many New Yorkers in Fanwood and the surrounding areas which is a plus when looking to have something in common with your neighbors. There is a train directly to NYC as well as bus service to the city. Housing is still affordable....in terms of realty in the tri-state area and the houses are not on top of one another. You actually get more for your money is Fanwood than in Westfield. The schools are great and the town is quaint and traditional. Fanwood, New Jersey Great Small Bedroom town / H - 4/19/2008
Have lived in this Central New Jersey small town..20yrs..Love it
Close to Westfield, Scotch Plains and Cranford...affluent towns with
lots of shops, great restaurants but homes are very expensive...taxes are
driving people out. You have to either have to have a great job in New York
or have a lot of money to live here.
Crime very low.. safe area...major highways to the shore and easy commute
