What BestPlaces Users Say about Metuchen

Metuchen, New Jersey is a small town in Middlesex County known for its quaint downtown area and strong community feel. It is often praised for its family-friendly atmosphere and excellent public schools. However, like any other place, Metuchen has its fair share of pros and cons. To get a better understanding of what it's like to live in this particular place, let's take a look at some user reviews on BestPlaces.net.

According to John, a resident of Metuchen, "I've been living in Metuchen for over 10 years now and I absolutely love it. The downtown area is charming and has a variety of restaurants and shops to choose from. The community is very close-knit and everyone is friendly and welcoming."

On the other hand, Sarah has a different opinion. She writes, "I moved to Metuchen a few years ago and I have to say, I'm not a fan. The cost of living is high and there isn't much to do here. It's also not the most diverse town, which can be a bit discouraging."

Another user, Mark, shares, "I have to say, Metuchen has some of the best schools in the state. As a parent, that was a huge factor for me when deciding where to live. The neighborhoods are safe and there are plenty of parks and playgrounds for kids."

However, not everyone agrees with Mark's statement. Mary, a former resident, states, "I grew up in Metuchen and went through the school system. While the schools may have a good reputation, there is a lot of pressure and competition among students. It can be overwhelming and not conducive to a healthy learning environment."

In summary, user reviews about living in Metuchen paint a picture of a tight-knit community with a charming downtown area and top-rated schools. However, some point out the high cost of living and lack of diversity as downsides. It seems like a great place for families, but may not be the best fit for everyone.

Metuchen - one of NJ's best kept secrets - 10/14/2010
I have lived in Metuchen for over 20 years. I moved from Brooklyn, NY where I was born and raised, after meeting my NJ born wife. We raised our two sons here, and have truly come to love this little 2 mile by 2 mile wide town. If you work or just enjoy NYC, it's an easy (if a little expensive) train ride from a train station that is pretty much walkable from anywhere one lives in town. Main St (no kidding, the name of the main street in town, is - Main St!)has some great restaurants, a few banks, and a small town-like drug store. There is a wonderful little theatre (The Forum Theatre) that is always ready to go out of business, but continues to find new ways to leverage it's charm. You might giggle at the thought of a YMCA being a center of town activity, but it's got a wonderful pre-school program, swimming program, fitness center and an incredible volunteer program for every different talent or want you can think of.
