SMALL TOWN AMERICA AT ITS BEST - 12/18/2023
I grew up in the town next door & spent the majority of my youth he here. IMHO Pitman is small town America at its finest. “Uptown” could put any “Main St” to shame. It has a shoppe for everyone. The 97yo 1000+ seat Broadway Theater still is in operation & offers shows for adults and children alike. The Grove which started as a Methodist camp meeting location (I recommend reading the Grove’s history). Many of the homes still have that quaint Victorian gingerbread trim. At Christmas the Grove hosts thousands of people for the Hagerty Christmas village light show where many homes deck out their yards for a walk thru tour & in the center of town the library offers Santa visits & its own miniature village of the Uptown shops. The 4th of July is another small town America holiday offering the annual parade & fireworks over Alcyon Lake. It’s not the parade for me w/out seeing the Hobo Band & the Bonsal Blues.
