What BestPlaces Users Say about Sparta

Sparta, New Jersey is a small suburban town located in the northern part of the state. It is known for its scenic beauty, with its rolling green hills and proximity to large bodies of water. In recent years, Sparta has attracted a lot of attention from potential residents due to its highly rated school district and low crime rates. However, moving to a new place can be daunting, which is why it is important to hear from those who have actually lived there. Below, I have summarized the opinions of several users who have shared their thoughts and experiences about living in Sparta, New Jersey.

According to "Laura" on BestPlaces.net, Sparta is a "great small town with a strong sense of community." She praises the town for its peaceful atmosphere and friendly neighbors. Similarly, "John" shares that Sparta is a "family-friendly town with plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy." He also mentions the close-knit community and the sense of safety he feels there. However, not all reviews are glowing. "Emma" points out that Sparta can feel isolated and lacking in diversity. She says, "while it's a nice town, it can feel a bit homogenous and closed off at times." Similarly, "Mike" notes that the cost of living in Sparta is high, making it difficult for young professionals and families to afford to live there comfortably.

Despite some mixed opinions, one thing that seems to be consistent among these user reviews is the scenic beauty of Sparta, New Jersey. Many mention the abundance of outdoor recreational activities available, such as hiking, fishing, and skiing. Overall, it seems that Sparta offers a peaceful and family-friendly suburban lifestyle, but it may not be the most diverse or affordable option.

Great place to bring up kids - 5/13/2015
I lived in Sparta for 28 years and only moved away because I retired. Both our daughters went through the entire school system and received a great education. In the high school all areas are stellar but the language, music and sports programs are outstanding. Last year, both the football team and marching band were state champions. The only downside is the high property tax but this is Read More

Sparta is a wonderful place to raise a family. Sparta has a lot of organized activities plus an abundance of year- round outdoor activites. It has a number of private and public lakes in Sparta or nearby the town for boating and swinning. Sparta is also very close to State Parks that offer opportunities for hiking, picnics, fishing and plenty of fall foliage opportunities. In the winter, you are 20 minutes away from excellent skiing and snowboarding.

Sparta is also a very safe town. It si quiet, suburban to rural with a number of major corporations within commuting distance.

The biggest detriment to Sparta, like most of new Jersey is it's high Read More

To the woman from Chicago...feel free to move back. Sparta, New Jersey is a physically beautiful town with much to offer. Yes, there are growing pains, as to be expected with an influx of so many relocations from out of state, and in-state. My children are safe here, within the schools and community. There's a sense of old town and new blood learning how to merge.

I wouldn't live anywhere else in New Jersey. It's a joy to come home to Read More

I love this town. I've lived here for l0 years now and it has to be one of the most beautiful places I've lived. Small town atmosphere, with lots of amenites. Safe, friendly, great schools, and not too far from everything. The only drawback it that winters are a bit too long, the elevation is high. Also, no industry, so the drive to work or the commute to NYC is long and Read More
