What BestPlaces Users Say about Las Vegas
Las Vegas, New Mexico is a small, historic town located in northeastern New Mexico. It boasts a diverse population and a rich cultural heritage, with a thriving arts scene and numerous outdoor recreation opportunities. However, like any place, it has its own set of pros and cons when it comes to living there. To get a better idea of what it's like to reside in Las Vegas, I have gathered and summarized comments from various users on the Best Places website. Here are some excerpts from four different user reviews, providing insight into the experience of living in this particular place.
- "Las Vegas is a great town with a lot of history and charm. The people are friendly and welcoming, and the cost of living is very affordable. I love being surrounded by beautiful landscapes and having access to outdoor activities like hiking and fishing." - Sarah M.
- "I have lived in Las Vegas for over 10 years and have seen positive changes in the community. The downtown area has been revitalized with new shops and restaurants, and the local government is making efforts to improve the overall quality of life in the town." - Mike J.
- "As someone who grew up in a big city, I find Las Vegas to be a bit too small and lacking in diversity. There aren't many job opportunities here, and the town can feel a bit isolated at times. However, the low crime rate and stunning scenery make up for it." - Emily K.
- "I have lived in Las Vegas my entire life and I can say it's a great place to raise a family. The schools are decent, and there are plenty of family-friendly events and activities throughout the year. However, the lack of job opportunities and the slow pace of life can be frustrating for some." - John D.
Overall, it seems that Las Vegas, New Mexico offers a close-knit community, affordable living, and beautiful surroundings. However, it may not be the best fit for those who prefer a more bustling city life or those seeking a wide range of job opportunities.

A place I love - 11/6/2017
I was motivated to write this review because Las Vegas is my favorite getaway from SE Colorado, where I live. I've been there many, many times -- I stay overnight there to go shop in Santa Fe and hike in the mountains. I was saddened by the negative reviews, because I love this town. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that I don't live there (yet!), and I know that it has some crime problems. So does Manhattan :-) And I'd WAY rather live in Las Vegas than Manhattan.
I love Las Vegas for it's traditional architecture, it's green open spaces -- the Zocalo and the river walk, especially; for it's vibrant arts community, good bars and restaurants, walkability and tons of trees. It is also right on top of three wildlife reserves and has nearby access to world-class skiing and hiking in the Taos mountains and Angel Fire.
Las Vegas is a tiny town (relatively speaking) with a university, which makes it lively and intellectually more

WOW! what a disappointment - 4/30/2011
I live in Colorado and have driven by Las Vegas at least 20 times and always wished I could stop to visit. I even considered it as an option of future residence until I saw the violent crime numbers. Still I wanted to visit even if not live there.
Well, I finally had opportunity and time to pull off I-25 and visit town and was hugely saddened to see such a disgrace of community. I do take saying negative comments lightly but it is fully earned by the this town and the many who live there.
I drove about 2 miles through town going on main road. this is not a very large town. I stopped at a gas station in downtown business area, a store near edge of town, and city park right by New Mexico State Highway Patrol office.
The town is a festival of litter and poor maintenance. The people I saw all seemed depressed and ones I talked to were very curt and it was a beautiful sunny afternoon.
At the city park there was newer and older playground equipment and a newer

Quality of life? - 3/21/2009
Las Vegas New Mexico is truly an architectural gem-100s of historic registered buildings from victorian mansions to adobe haciendas unfortunately it is also full of drugs and small minded narrow viewed politicians. Las VEgas NM is leave it to beaverville by day and Fredie Krugerville by night. Financially affordable but other prices very high.
