OK but Not For Me - 1/20/2006
I grew up in Erie County, just outside Buffalo. The good: Food, Hospitals, Schools (other than Buffalo Public Schools), not as much snow as people think, no scorching heat, no tornados, no dangerous critters, close to Canada, plenty of government hand outs if you need them. The bad: (this is all statistically proven and supported) broken politics, the poorest economy in the nation, high taxes, no job growth, companies moving out, flatlined property values, in the worst county in the worst state, big government, overpaid public workers, too many public workers...the list goes

I miss Buffalo - 1/6/2006
I was born and raised in Buffalo, New York and miss the city alot. I will be moving back. Not only is it great for the arts, culture, but also for entertainment, and sports. It is loaded with museums, art gallerys, an orchestra, a decent zoo, Delaware Park, great restaurants, the best pizza and wings, frozen custard etc,. I miss all the winter sports living here in hazy, humid Savannah, GA. I miss the four seasons, the apple orchards, fall foliage, fresh cider, ice rinks, and the red hot Buffalo Sabres. There are signs of economic improvent too. I agree that the city is a cultural bargain, leisure bargain, and big city

city with a great deal of warm people - 12/4/2005

This city has a lot to offer besides snow. The people are very friendly and the city has a great sense of community. The cultural offerings and sport activities are first rate. Violent crime is much lower than in the sunbelt cities like Charlotte ans Atlanta.
Lake Erie which is the reason for the snow has a positive effect as it is a buffer against the more severe acts of nature like tornados.
The city is in a great location as it is near Niagra Falls,Toronto and the open spaces of Western New York

Newcomer to Buffalo - 6/27/2005
This is a great city with a lot to do. Only problem is people here have an inferiority complex. They all love the city but think it is "going down the tubes". The fact is, it is not. Restaurants, cultural activities, big city amentities with small town conveninces. Yeah it snows, but it gets hot in Florida and North Carolina. You learn how to deal with it. People just don't realize how good they have it unless they have lived somewhere else.
