Great Place to Live! - 5/31/2007
Commack is a great place for kids to receive an education, whether they attend the Commack public schools or one of the many nearby private schools. Commack is convienient to the Long Island Sound, as well as the ocean via Robert Moses, which is about 20 minutes away. Though there is no train service to NYC in Commack itself, 3 surrounding towns have stations. Commack does have public bus transportation. One unfortunate thing about Commack is that there is no downtown area. Everything is on one of three roads as far as shopping needs go. Malls are about 15 minutes away in either direction. These busy roads and shopping areas get VERY crowded during rush hours and weekends. The reason it is so crowded is a good reason, Commack offers a lot of great restaurants for all different tastes and at all different price brackets. The major highways that go through Commack are the same as the rest of Long Island - allow time if you are going west in the morning or east at night!  Read More
