Beautiful Massapequa - 12/1/2011
Massapequa is a quaint town located on the south shore of Nassau County, Long Island, NY. It is considered by many to be the crown jewel of the Riviera of Long Island. Massapequa 'proper' includes: Massapequa hamlet, The village of Massapequa Park, North Massapequa and East Massapequa.

The Massapequa area, which includes mainly Massapequa and Massapequa Park, is known for its well-kept homes, various amenities including the best shopping, village downtown, excellent restaurants, best pizza, bagels and large concentration of mid-to-upper middle class families.

From the tree-lined streets to the well-kept homes to the plethora of fine dining, waterfront homes, private beaches and shopping available, best schools on LI and beautiful parks, it is truly one of the nicest areas to live on Long Island. Massapequa has some of the best Schools in the entire country.

Birch Lane & East Lake Elementary are in the top 1 percentile in the state of NY.Read More

Massapequa resident 25 years - 7/19/2010
I live in Harbor Green in Massapequa. Over the years I have seen the neighborhood change from a quaint neighborhood with normal sized houses on appropriate sized lots to a neighborhood full of cheaply built McMansions. At the same time the cost of living has gone up and up and the taxes continue their climb ever upward. Local and school taxes are ridiculous and are causing many people to leave this area. I intend to leave within 3 years and when I tell neighbors they ask but where will I find such a nice place to live? Well if you check out Massapequa on Sperlings you will find terrible air quality, high cost of living, weather is ok if you like high humidity, superfund sites score is 10 ( 1 - 100, 100 being best), and on and on. Hopefully Sperlings will help me find a nice place to retire to. Read More

Not as safe as it used to be... - 2/5/2010
Heroin is a huge problem. Groups of teenagers roam the streets at night with apparently nothing else to do. My mother-in-law was car jacked (she escaped) while sitting at an auto ATM on Sunrise Highway. The suspects were later arrested in Queens after robbing Read More
