Nice place to raise a family- not great for work - 7/13/2020
I have lived in New Paltz my entire life, but I plan on moving for work.
The good:
Outdoor activities
-Miles and miles of carriage trails for hiking, biking and skiing
-Rail trail system that connects local towns
-Rock climbing
-State park with 2 swimming lakes
-Town park with fishing lake
-Kayaking in downtown
-Apple picking
University
-Art museum
-Theater
-Competitive and affordable
-Diverse
-Lots of comfortable places to study
Town
-Cute shops
-Pizza and fried food until 4 AM
-Live music
-Decent restaurants and bars
-Great spots to sneak away and smoke a joint
-Nice library
The Bad:
Outdoor activities
-Lots of traffic and limited parking at Minnewaska
-Expensive to go to Mohonk
-Rail trail is not paved and is narrow in some places
-Walkill River is dirty
