Great little village - 4/9/2012
Nyack is a small village on the Hudson River about 20 miles north of NYC. Living in a river town is a wonderful thing from beautiful sunrises to sunsets. The village of 10,000 is known for it's nightlife with about 20 restaurants and a few bars for the college crowds. Shopping opportunities for unique gifts and clothing in small stores and the restaurants make up the main retail area. The village is very accepting of all lifestyles with mostly liberal politiical views. Commuting into NYC is by bus (or by shuttle across the river to get the train). On the horizon is the building of a bridge to replace the existing Tappan Zee bridge and that will bring disruption for a few years. Property taxes are high as are all taxes in the area. Read More

Nyack on the Hudson - 3/5/2010
I moved here 8 yrs ago from NYC (30 minutes away) and have found this to be the quintessential small town, not small minded. I am a real estate associate broker with Keller Williams Hudson Valley Realty.
It is truly a lively town with a very active and diverse social and political climate. Many shops, bars, restaurants, 2 small stage theatres, great riverfront parks and activities and really great, interesting people from all walks of life. The town itself is built on the Hudson and is filled with Victorian era homes. As you move away from the center the feeling becomes more suburban. The rest of Rockland County is really good too but there are no other towns like Nyack, it's more suburban and rural.
