Ogdensburg is a small town rich in history located on the banks of the majestic St. Lawrence River. With its low crime rate, low cost of living, low housing prices, and excellent schools, it is a family oriented community where folks tend to look out for each other.

Ogdensburg, N.Y. is an historic community on the banks of the St. Lawrence River. It offers one of upstate New York's largest shoreline parks, a municipal pool, tennis courts, two hockey arenas, muncipal marina, tennis courts, skateboard park, with access to an extensive walking trail system. The city offers one of the region's largest and most varied youth recreation programs.
The community has a rich history and culture. It played a key role in the history of three nations. Settled by the French as a mission fort known as Fort la Presentation in 1749, it served as a base of operations throughout what's known as the French and Indian War. The British renamed it Fort Oswegatchie in 1760, used it to launch raids on the Mohawk Valley throughout the Revolutionary War. Even after the war, the British refused to leave until 1796, 20 years after the Declaration of Independence.
The Americans used it a base of operations for raids into Canada during the War of 1812.
