What BestPlaces Users Say about Wappingers Falls

Wappingers Falls, located in Dutchess County, New York, is a small village with a population of just over 5,000 residents. Many people are drawn to this area for its quaint charm and easy access to the Hudson River. However, as with any place, there are varying opinions on what it is like to actually live in Wappingers Falls. To gain a better understanding, I have summarized several user reviews from BestPlaces.net, a popular site for city and neighborhood comparisons.

One user, named "Debbie," had a positive experience living in Wappingers Falls, stating, "Wappingers Falls is a small town with a friendly community. The village is walkable and has a great sense of community." Another resident, "Mark," also praised the town's community feel, saying, "There are always events and festivals happening, and everyone seems to know each other." On the other hand, "Samantha" shared a different perspective, saying, "Wappingers Falls is a beautiful place, but it's expensive to live here. The taxes are high and the cost of living is steep." Similarly, "John" expressed concerns about the cost of living, stating, "The cost of living is a little high, but it's worth it for the safety and good schools." Overall, it seems that the community and charming atmosphere of Wappingers Falls are highly valued by its residents, but the cost of living may be a downside for some.

Suburban living at its best - 6/14/2013
My family has lived in the village for 4 generations, myself for 22 years before I had to move away for grad school (and I'm eager to move back!). I absolutely love it there. The main street in the village is beautiful, with little shops and the waterfall the town is named for right next to a great park and historic buildings. With the Culinary Institute so close by, many of the former students live in the village and surrounding areas resulting in great restaurants. Shopping is close and convenient. Weather is great, not too cold in winter and not too hot in summer; worst natural disaster you'll experience is a rare two feet of snow (which is quickly cleaned up off the streets) or an inch of water in the basement. Lots of trees and big yards for most houses. NYC is an easy and scenic hour and a half train ride away, down the banks of the hudson Read More
