ok place to live but you still need $$$ like the G - 10/7/2007
if you can afford to live in the Greater NY/NJ area, Long island offers
a more "civilized" family-oriented environment to raise kids.
Housing slightly cheaper. Try the Bethpage/Wantaugh area or the
w. hempstead or Franklin Square areas. Also, Woodbury/Plainview, and surrounding areas.

Don't go northern LI unless you're rich and like living around gold courses, and
if you go southern side, you're ok, just look around. It's still expensive all around for us though as we have 7 kids and make under 6-figures which is
an impossibility for buying a home. Avg. housing costs around $500K for anything halfway decent.
