Benson NC " The Center of No Attraction " - 6/3/2022
Benson is located at the crossroads of 95 and 40 which should be a bustling location full of life, progress, dining and entertainment. Unfortunately Benson has been close-minded and stuck in a rut that's resulted in empty, dilapidated or non-entertainment / non-dining businesses downtown. The town is empty by 7pm most evenings unless some over religious activity is going on where being seen by others is more important then actual faith.

The annual Mule Days seem to attract a crowd of the good ol'boys which the town focuses on to try to recoup revenue lost the rest of the year but again if you been to one it's the same routine every year with the same acts.

If you have children there are very few activities for you to take them to unless you leave Benson. Recreational areas again are not a focus for this town. There is a very mediocre playground, aged members only city pool and aged city gymnasium.

warning to minorities - 3/4/2009
If you don't meet a certain salary range and stay in a certain neighborhood your child may be named a low income, low achiever with low test scores. Seriously,they are really taking this test score, no child left behind thing to another level. They just simply don't want your child there. The excuse is that minorities of certain backgrounds are bringing down their test scores. This is just a backdrop for racism and an excuse to keep saying that minority students don't test as well as white students. Well, who knows the real truth when the only teachers are white. They want you to stay out of their schools. My six year old daughter was dragged on the floor by her teacher. She is well behaved and loves school. The authorities and the principals did nothing. In fact the authorities protected the teacher instead of my 6 year old daughter. She was treated like a thug. I had to remove her from the school which I am pretty sure made them happy.
