The town lies nestled between mountains, rivers, and streams making it an idyllic location for outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and camping. There are plenty of attractions to visit in the area including Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort, the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, and Nantahala Outdoor Center.

Beautiful place - 10/5/2009
Bryson Citys landscape is beautiful. Lush green with streams and a few waterfalls thrown in. Temperature is mild with summers in the upper 80s and low 90s but humidity is a bit high as this area as it is a temperate rain forest. The people are close knit group who have not gotten over the civil war,so "outsiders" are not welcomed with open arms. Also in the not very long past the people lived in "HOLLERS", and did not venture out very frequently. There fore many are closely related. If you have seen or can remember the movie, Deliverence, this movie is more of a docuementary than fictional. As a matter of fact it was shot in nearby areas, and much is the same today. Can't Wait to move there - 5/25/2008
My wife and I started taking vacations to Bryson City a few years ago. We now make a couple stops per year there and have met some interesting folks. There are many tranplants here. Mostly retirees.
