Raleigh, North Carolina is a popular city known for its thriving job market, affordable cost of living, and vibrant culture. With a population of over 450,000, it is the second-largest city in the state. It is also home to several universities, making it a hub for young professionals and students. However, before making the decision to move to Raleigh, it is important to consider the experiences of those who currently reside there. Here are four different user reviews from BestPlaces.net that provide insight into living in Raleigh.

1. "I have lived in Raleigh for over 20 years and it has been a great place to raise a family. The schools are top-notch and the cost of living is very affordable. There are also plenty of job opportunities, especially in the technology and healthcare industries. The only downside is the traffic can be frustrating during rush hour." - Jennifer S.

2. "I moved to Raleigh for its growing food and music scene, and I have not been disappointed. There are so many amazing restaurants and live music venues to explore. The city also has a great mix of urban and outdoor activities, with plenty of parks and trails to enjoy. However, the summers can get quite hot and humid, so be prepared for that." - Michael D.

3. "I relocated to Raleigh for work and I have been pleasantly surprised by the community here. People are friendly and welcoming, and there is a strong sense of community. The downtown area has been revitalized and there are always events and festivals happening. However, the housing market can be competitive and the cost of living is rising." - Sarah M.

4. "I have been living in Raleigh for a few years now and I absolutely love it. The weather is great, with mild winters and warm summers. The city also offers a good balance of urban and suburban living, so you can choose the type of lifestyle you want. There is never a shortage of things to do and explore, from museums to breweries to outdoor activities." - Kevin T.

Carrie is nuts - 10/14/2005
Raleigh is a great city - moved here from NY 8 years ago. It is not segregated nor racist, so don't believe her liberal propoganda. If you work hard here, you will get ahead. If you don't work but choose to be a baby machine, you get welfare life in the ghetto. It is that Read More

Unfortunately Carrie, the scene you depict happens in every major city in the US...Raleigh is rapidly growing into one of those cities - like Philly or Houston or NYC or any really, it has a growing crime problem and a lot of skewed numbers and a lot of poor black people. I lived in Raleigh for 15 years and I truly hated the place, but mostly for the weather and bad transit. No rapid transit to speak of, FYI, so everywhere you go will take a LOOONG time and you'll have to have a car. Also, in the summer it's stiflingly hot, but the winters are relatively mild. Youth is a big part of Raleigh with Chapel Hill, Duke, NCSU, Meredith, and many many more colleges in the immediate vicinity...it all makes this a great place if you're young but otherwise maybe not. Durham and Raleigh are fairly diverse but not very well-integrated, while Chapel Hill and Cary are purely white almost and almost exclusively wealthy. The upside to all this variance and rapid growth is that there are MANY Read More

i think most data and stats on raleigh are highly skewed...everything i read about Raleigh includes both Durham and Chapel Hill and some even include Cary... I think that throws off everything because these ciites are not close to each other... if one is looking for nightlife in Raleigh, the stats include bars for Durham, but we are talking a good 45 minute drive! and the "single poulation" that city websites brag about here are skewed by the enormous amount of colleges in the area--- ages 18-21... this is a YOUNG place to live....and then these YOUNGINs down here in the south wed before age 22....so MANY young couples with kids...also very churchy, not spiritual really just denominational.... and LOTS of pro-bush stickers! leftys beware! also EXTREMELY segregated... still... confederate flags, coors light, southern drawls....and oddly enuf more PHDS per Capita than any other city in AMERICA! but they all stay in chapel hill or surrounding neighborhood of DUKE, or of coure RTP Read More

The Skinny on Raleigh - 6/16/2005
Raleigh is a great city. I first moved here to go to college at NC State. That was 11 years ago. Once you get settled you will never want to leave. The beach is 2 hours away and so are the mountains. Even though Raleigh may seem rather southern and prejudiced by appearance, the truth is the city is very diverse. You have all of the usual things you would expect: good resturants, nice parks, nice people. Items that you could live with out are the traffic, lots of it everywhere, and you can not park anywhere downtown with out the fear of being Read More
