It may be for some people, but it's not for me - 5/5/2015
I've lived in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area for about 20 years now. It's not for me. While there may be a lot of attractions, many of them are in relatively unsafe neighborhoods. The East side of Cincinnati, the West side of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky are all very, very different from one another. I grew up on the East side of Cincinnati and I found that the people are very concerned with keeping up appearances. I have found that outsiders just don't fit in on the West side of town. Everyone there was born and raised there with no intentions of leaving. I have been happiest in Northern Kentucky because it has a more reasonable cost of living, however, the jobs are a little scarce. I had to work over in Cincinnati. While the cost of living is lower than other places, the jobs just don't pay that well and the employers in the area are generally not concerned with employee well being. I spent five years working for Fifth Third, which is one of biggest players in the area

Living in Cincinnati, OH (Hyde Park Neighborhood) - 4/7/2015
Relocated to Cincinnati in 2014. Prior to the move, we used Sperlings Best Places web site to give us an overview of the city (crime, climate, etc) and what to expect with the "cost of living" which was very important to know. It was a great resource. Moved into the Hyde Park neighborhood, which has lovely historic homes. Numerous clubs, cultural events and awesome restaurants in the neighborhood. Close to downtown activities. Just a FYI: great diverse restaurant selection; not a strong ethnic diversity in neighborhood; we're not runners, but appears to be numerous avid daily runners; the cost of housing in Hyde Park is substantially more expensive, than other neighborhoods in Cincinnati. The downtown area appears to be refurbishing historic buildings and lofts, brownstones and new restaurants are every where, very cool. Washington Park downtown host numerous free exercise activities. If you're a beer lover, there are numerous breweries to visit. Some of the new downtown restaurants

Wonderful place to reside & start a family! - 7/1/2014
I've lived in Cincinnati my entire life & absolutely adore it here. Cincinnati has so many things to offer, if you get out & look for it. There is tons of activities you can do around here such as the Cincinnati Zoo, attending a Reds or Bengals game, Newport Aquarium, Kings Island, tons of concerts, & many amazing parks. The dining here awesome. Cincinnati has a bunch of locally famous restaurants such as Skyline, Goldstar, Larose's, Montgomery Inn, ect. However many out of state residents aren't found of it, because well their not use to these types of foods & how they are prepared. Cincy is also filled with lots of German restaurants, festivals, activities & heritage. While reading other comments, I've seen how Cincy is full of drugs, prostitution, crime, violence, & you should not go out after dark if you'd like to remain safe. I go around Cincinnati (especially downtown) all the time during day & night time. I've personally never had a problem, nor has anyone I've known. Yes, it's

I go around Cincinnati (especially downtown) all the time during day & night time. I've personally never had a problem. Yes, it's dangerous to be out at night, but where isn't it? The city is usually heavily patrolled with police downtown. Yes, there is crime & such, however name a city today that doesn't have any crime in it. Downtown is mostly business like, so if you're interested in living here there is numerous towns located minutes away that more

Pros and Cons - 4/11/2014
Climate: Not the worst, but not great. Very cold winters; (usually) hot summers.
Pros: Cost of living is low. Cheap housing is abundant. Groceries and household items very cheap. However taxes are a little above average. There are a lot of neighborhoods that are pedestrian, due to the old age of the city and the small historical neighborhoods. Therefore you can find a lot of locations where you can walk to a local store, or walk to a bar or whatever. Some decent cultural life and entertainmnt in regards to zoo, aquarium, kings island etc. Probably the number one American city for Germanic and Gothic architecture but most of these buildings are crumbling now and not maintained. Spectacular view of the city when you drive in from the south, much more aesthetic than a lot of cities from that limited angle. Not a lot of traffic for a big city, although they seemed to have been working on some of the highways since the 70s and never finish.
Also many major

Hong Kong (9 years), back to Cincinnati - 3/10/2014
Great, if your an expat working for a bank or airline on a package ($$). If you a single (or married) dude who likes to get laid every night of the week with stunning asian (utterly boring, shallow and soulless) women, game on. There are great nature trails and if your into serious mountain biking, I'd wager some of the best riding in the world.
If you like silence, not fond of crowds (rude), healthy food, affordable housing and clean air... move on, theres a better way to spend a life. If your thinking Chinese culture is interesting and rich, it's utter nonsense. Unlike other asian cultures, there was really no way to become immersed in chinese culture as it is superficial and racist.
Wasn't planning on moving back to Cincinnati as I really never wanted to go back. But as time went on, I saw the kindness, loyalty and affordability it offers. As single man, I have been told not to hope for much (dead dating scene), but as I would like to be surrounded by

Cinci : observations of an outsider - 11/8/2013
Came to Cinci 15 yrs ago. Came from a large European city. I'll try to be objective so here you go...
Negatives:
- conservative, resistant to change, non-progressive city(have been arguing about whether to introduce street-car to the city. This has been going on for years! )
- Most of the locals (especially the ones who grew up here) are closed-minded, sort of 'hillbilly' types. TIRED of them asking me 'where are you from". Go to Chicago, NY or LA... cannot imagine being asked this question there. ( I speak with little accent)
- therefore- this city is not for educated, open minded, cosmopolitan-metropolitan people (or foreigners). I Have B.S. and M.S. degrees + experience =impossible to find job. During rare interviews I was asked discriminatory questions. Fifth Third Bank is especially outstanding in this matter. I was laid off twice in 3 yr period. There is no diversity here, and if you speak with accent- PLEASE RELOCATE. Otherwise they will
