The area offers plenty of outdoor recreation such as fishing, hiking, boating, camping and more. The local shops provide plenty of unique finds and although the population is small, there's always something to do in Pilot Rock. Visitors also report the community is friendly and welcoming to all who visit. People who have visited Pilot Rock say it's a great place to relax and unwind while enjoying all that nature has to offer.

What a Wonderful Place to Live - 1/25/2009
Pilot Rock is a wonderful place to call home. I have lived here for the last eight years, and raised a family. After living elswhere, I am impressed with the amount of community support given to everything related to he betterment of the children in this community.
I have lived in other communities in Eastern Oregon and never seen the amount of support that shows itself in the amount of people that turn out for Christmas/Spring concerts, or the number of people who show up at sports events. A good number of those attending are not related to or even relatives to the young people participating. This is just one example of what the community comes together to support.
The community hosts an annual Community Days, Winter Festival, and a Bike Pit (ATV track) fundraiser. All of these things have been spear headed by the current mayor who is a long time resident of the community. It is clear that she takes a lot of pride in living and being part of this
