Just a visit
- 3/4/2011
NW PA is a nice place to visit if you have family or friends in the area. As for culture, entertainment and employment possibilities - precious little is available. Think abandoned steel mills, railroads and factories. The cloud coverage in this area is significant year round. Sunny days are numbered. Winters are harsh, damp, cold and bring tons of snow and ice. Look up "lake effect snow". A plus: The cost of a home is pocket change compared to other areas. Also the foothills of the Allegheny mountains, as well as various rivers, offer some decent outdoor activities. Living between Pittsburgh and Erie may look good on paper, but no so in reality. Again, it's a nice place to visit but I no longer want to live

Sharpsville, PA sits against the Ohio border about midway between Erie, PA and Pittsburgh, PA just north of Route 80. I was born and raised in this area, but my wife is from the Big City of Cleveland, OH. I brought her here in 1982 when her Mom came to live with us, and she fell in love with my "Small Town". We live a football field away from Buhl Park, a privately-owned park open to the public for picnicking, walking, softball, swimming, band concerts and just being laid-back and enjoying life in general. Our neighbors are wonderful, caring people. We love our church, and volunteer at as many functions as we can; next one will be Relay for Life at the end of June. Having lived in Flint, MI; Cleveland, OH; and Niles, OH, I can state unequivocally that we prefer living in our little town of Sharpsville in spite of the fact that there are many more opportunities and diversions available in the Big Cities. "Small" just fits our style
