East Stroudsburg is a wonderful place to live. It's less than 90 minutes to NYC. We have beautiful mountain views. There are many beautiful communities with big beautiful homes built by Toll Brothers, C&M, Ryan Hones and LTS, etc. The schools are great and crime is low. You could not ask for a more beautiful place to live so close to NYC. The only negative thing is that the property taxes are very high and it's very expensive to heat these Mini Mansions in the winter months. Also If you commute to NYC to work, it's Read More

I grew up in East Stroudsburg - 3/22/2013
I grew up in East Stroudsburg, PA and then my dad went into the ARMY so we moved around a lot. I took my husband up to where I am from and he fell in love with it. My husband is now retired from the ARMY and we now live in FLORIDA. My husbnd likes the mountains and to be able to experience all 4 seasons. I had the same teachers that taught my dad and that is pretty bad when they ask you if your related and tell them that you are then they want to ask 20 million questions about your dad, brother, and cousins. Some of my cousins still live in East Stroudsburg. I would love to move back there and be able to see my cousins that I haven't seen in years. Maybe if I ask really nice my husband will say yes we can move back to where I am from. There is nothing wrong with East Stroudsburg, PA. All cities have crime and yes the schools are one of the best schools that are in East Stroudsburg, Read More

The Bad:East Stroudsburg (Eastburg to the locals) is a suburb of NYC. I moved here from St. Louis 3 yrs ago. The place has the crime, poor schools, and (surprisingly) bad traffic of a large city, with none of the good side (restaurants, night life, museums). The roads are terrible, and the taxes are very high. The winters are awful, and the summer is nearly non-existent. I keep waiting for global warming, but it never seems to come. Maybe Santa will bring it here. Property taxes are relatively cheap (good), but school taxes are not (6k/year). The schools, however, don't meet the requirements for the No Child Left Behind Act, so don't ask me what they do with the money.

The Good: I grew up in NC, and was stunned to see that most of the homes here have no AC. I thought these people must be out of their minds! But, the summers here (all 3 weeks of it) are very mild. The mountains and countryside are beautiful, but crowded with NYC folks (sorry, that belongs in the Read More
