Home Sweet Home, Not In the Least - 8/19/2021
Moved to Frackville (yes, a borough/city that is not afraid to boast that they have done the most harm when it comes to global warming than any other city in the US,) 5 very long years ago. This area is also very special in that it ranks a nightmarish #67 out of 70 counties in Health Care. I've become a home chef because there are are absolutely no restaurants to eat out. I'm lying. There are 3 but, do you really want to end up having you go to a doctor or hospital here??? This area is staunch Republican and only has 1 newspaper. It's called the Republican. Democrats: Not Welcome here! The Coal Crackers here will not cross party lines because they like to stay poor and helpless and, want a good excuse to not have to get a free education. I highly recommend that newcomers to the area find another area to become a newcomer in. These folks are morbidly quiet and are not friendly, not even to "their own kind." City services: Non Existent and, Taxes: Well, move to Malibu. Taxes Read More

Frackville PA Decent Growing up but downhill since - 3/19/2021
I Grew up here in Frackville and left after graduating college years ago. When I grew up it was decent, my parents still live here. But the same problems remain, poor local corrupt politics and outdated systems in government services. I recall the snow removal and the Borough roads were horrible as a kid and parents always complained. One thing I do notice when I visit is the downtown got worse from 25 years ago and the nearby mall just south of town, which was popular then, is now demolished. Just like a lot of smaller towns in America oligarchy-type governments and organizations emerge and you always get the same last names in power in both local organizations and government. All and all it could have been worse growing up here, but it seems like it's definitely not as good now as it was in the 80s and 90s and many of my friends moved out since then. Read More

An American Oddity - 12/6/2018
Strangest place I ever laid my head down. I guess the positive is there isn't much traffic here no more because hardly anyone works. The mall that was there since the early 80s as since been plowed to the ground, The primary catholic church growing up also has has been plowed to the ground. The downtown has hardly anything. The Best Bar in town called the Black Diamond just closed. This place is simply going no where fast or probably ever. The parks are 20 years behind most of America. An Coal region Area drug problem coupled with Odd murders that occurred here the last few years. Means i dont visit much. Read More

population drop of 25 percent for a Reason - 1/12/2018
Frackville is a victim of high out-migration and poor local and county management. IT sure does not help The weather stinks in this part of PA, the recreation is not very good, the ball fields are old and outdated. The Schuylkill mall that opened in 1980 recently closed and the downtown is dead. There is A few decent pizza places at least are here. But really Frackville PA is a small town that is really dead.  Read More

Not my cup of tea - 11/30/2016
I lived in this town to work in the nearby prison, thank god i got a transfer.
The place is full of potholes, hilly alleys, and nothing to do. Neighbors were really unfriendly as well. The only good thing about Frackville was it was close to the interstate. The town gets more snow than surrounding areas because of being up on the mountain, also its colder than everywhere else. The snow removal is horrible here. Read More

climate in Schuylkill county - 10/11/2016
Schuylkill County has two dramatically different climates especially in winter. "South of the Mountain " the Broad Mountain, the weather resembles Berks county .At the top of Broad Mountain and north, a startling change occurs, with snow and snow cover bginning weeks earlier than the south and lasting weeks later. The opportunity for winter sports n the North is exponentially different.
In summer the North is pleasant and generally cooler Read More
