This town absolutely sucks! - 2/13/2014
I commonly refer to greensburg as "grimsburg". Mainly because it is grim, depressing, rude, snobby, and downright pathetic. On any given day, you can find people of all ages driving mercedes, Bmw's, Cadillacs, and many other "status quo" vehicles of the elite. They have all the time in the world to shop and trot around like nothing. Just drive past the Mall, Walmart, and any other shopping area and you will witness this amazing phenomena. I refer to it as a "phenomena" because my question is how? What do they all do for a living? Where do they all get this money? I am going to research this because I find it more perplexing then finding Bigfoot. Greensburg is a very depressed place as mentioned from the other posts especially with Jobs and pay. But amazingly, we have these "elite" survivors.  Read More

Horrible people - 11/1/2011
I have lived here for 3 long years. These are the rudest most ignorent people I have ever met. I have lived all over the US.and I must say I have never lived in a place where 99% of the people I meet and work with are this horrible. And the jobs pay nothing. Little cities with one fourth the population not even 100 miles away pay like 4 dollars an hour more. I have to say this is one place I will never even visit again much less ever think about coming back to. If you like being treated like garbage and bullied at your job by your co-workers then this is the place to be. No Read More

DO NOT MOVE HERE - 10/10/2011
I've had the good fortune in life to live all over the United States. I have to say that this is the WORST place I have ever lived. The people are the rudest most obnoxious people I have ever met. They never crack a smile and to work with them is torture. They go out of their way to be nasty and ignorant to people. And God help you if you're like me and are not from here. Plus you will work for nothing. The jobs here pay at least 5 dollars an hour less than anywhere else I have been. Worst place ever Do not even think about moving here. Run don't Read More

to leave or not to leave greensburg Pa - 9/5/2008
Plus

green, quiet, close to Pittsburgh to watch the Steelers, Penquins, or Pirates. in the Laurel Mountains to hike and enjoy the wilderness. The city of greensburg itself is a quiet peaceful place to raise a family. Hospitals are great.

Minus

economy not so good. hard to find a job and when you do find a job you are a jack of all trades to keep that job. Favors the employeer more people competing for the job. Not a lot to do if you are not into farms and nature or driving into the dying city of Pittsburg.

Me

I want to leave after 30 years of being here due to the lack of job. I have a BS in Electrical Engineering and have to work as a technician just to have a job. side note personally want to be closer to the beach and better weather. rains way to much here in western Read More

City of Pittsburgh-Greensburg PA Review - 6/29/2008
Pittsburgh area has excellent medical, educational, culinary, and cultural resources. Some excellent restaurants, more coming. Greensburg is a bit low in these categories and is socially stodgy and perhaps too ethnically oriented. The weather is not great in winter and the roads (particularly for pedestrians/joggers/bikers) are generally among the poorest in the nation. The water supply has been plentiful; the risk of drought seems low now.

High taxes for the aging population is not a great Read More

A small college town with access to a decent city - 5/23/2006
Not sure why the the previous poster dislikes Greensburg so much, but if one takes time to actually LOOK for things to do, they are there. Greensburg is small, but a college town (3 universities and a community college all within approximately 15 miles) and as such, there are opportunities to do things. Also, the city of Pittsburgh is only 40 miles away; if you need big city life, go there to visit and come back to Greensburg to live in a safe, quiet area. Also, there is a major mall in the area if you like to shop, an art museum, parks, Read More

This place makes my skin crawl - 5/14/2006
I find absolutely nothing redeeming about this area at all. My husband is from Greensburg and he likes it, but I despise even going out there to visit or run an errand - the whole place just has a bad vibe to it. It's outdated, dirty and there is NOTHING Read More
