Not for everybody - 7/22/2009
Have lived in or near Waynesburg off and on for most of my life. If you are looking for big city amenities, night life, shopping, dining, etc, then it definitely is not for you. If you want a rural area within easy driving distance (20 - 55 miles), then give the area some consideration. Coal mining and agriculture are the mainstays of the area. Just to give you a hint, one of the big hot-topics of earlier this year was whether we really wanted a Wal-Mart to open in the town. While it hurts local businesses, which there are very few left, it IS convenient not to have to drive 20+ miles to the nearest equivalent store. There are malls available within 18 to 25 miles in 3 directions, so we aren't all that isolated. Like most small towns there are several small and varied festivals and shows throughout the county each year. Housing is very reasonable, but jobs are few especially outside of the coal industry.
