We've lived in various states, small towns & big cities, all over the country and we both felt West Chester was home as soon as we hit downtown. We've been here 8 years now, count our blessings every time we watch the Weather Channel or listen to the news. The traffic's incredibly congested now due to all of the people who've moved here, the rent is usually high, home prices out of our price range, it's difficult to find a place right now with everything in flux. There are some areas that experience flooding several times a year. However, the weather isn't extreme: we don't worry about earthquakes, fires, droughts, temps over 100* or below zero. Our location can't be topped for proximity to Philly, NYC, Boston, Baltimore, D.C. The downtown now a 'pedestrian traffic only' zone since COVID struck, but that just makes it all the more pleasant for outdoor dining, strolling, and people watching - plenty of mostly reasonably priced parking garages within easy walking distance if you Read More

Where's the nice, charming part of town? Is the p - 6/4/2012
There seems to be 2 different profiles for West Chester, PA. One says it's a town of <20K and another says it's more like a small city at over 40K. I was kind of expecting a charming "Main St. USA" sort of town with a population <20K.

Where does one go to see the "good life" part of this town? I drove through W. Gay St. and E. Gay St. where all the restaurants are, and it's OK, but I didn't find it particularly charming. Reminded me a little of parts of Philly itself. Where are the expensive cars and the nice houses outside of the downtown area?Read More

Good that you live in Allentown, because you
sure aren't seeing the real West Chester. We're from CA, and we couldn't afford to buy a home there. WC has grown into a beautiful little town since we moved here 10 years ago. We're not rich, we are smart, we are compassionate and we have seen what poverty is. You hit my button, but maybe since 2010, you've had another chance to visit this gem of a small town. Or, perhaps, you've never been anywhere else.Read More

INCOMPETENCE RUNS RAMPANT - 7/23/2011
I am dying inside living here. It is so polluted. Filled with people that cannot add two plus two but drive $100,000+ cars. It NEVER EVER FAILS if I want to go ANYWHERE here there will be the most ridiculous amount of fails possible that these people can pull off. NOT ONLY is everyone COMPLETELY, TOTALLY, AND UTTERLY INCOMPETENT, but the people that live here think its great!!?!!?!!?!?! It seriously boggles my mind! You CANNOT order a freaking PIZZA without someone messing up like five different things that you didn't think were possible to mess up. I don't get it. I don't get it. It seriously has to be all the pollution affecting their brains ability to function properly. I tried SOOOOOOOO hard to like it here, but I cant even do the simplest thing here without it being F-ED UP by someone or being overly charged for it. It amazes me how stupid this entire area is. I really can not get over Read More

West Chester Sucks, Here's Why: - 11/29/2010
Top 5 Reasons West Chester, PA sucks.

1. The Hybrid of Yuppies/Hicks: Be stupified at the all the idiots with
money who live there. You'll be amazed at how these people could even
read.
2. You'll breeze through the "downtown" in 1 hour and think to
yourself, "was that it?"
3. Be careful not to step on the homeless who you'll run into with 100%
certainty.
4. Next visit the local drug/alcohol clinic and rub elbows with the majority
of "professionals" who work in the town. Yay!
5. Don't forget to visit the University and on your way out, why not go to
the 30 bars that inhabit seemingly every other inch; oh and go into that
montrosity of a building known as the Courthouse, which has been raping
West Chester residents for the past 50 years. Don't forget to say hi to
all the corrupt judges!

And there we have West Chester. I hope I saved some Read More

Great Place to Live - 3/22/2010
If you're looking for a town with exquisite architecture and love good food and friendly people as well as located 35 mins from Philadelphia, 2 hours from NYC, and 1.5 hrs from Baltimore. This is the place for you. Just outside of town, which is a hop skip and a jump, you are in the beautiful hills of Chester County, where the views are breathtaking and many famous people tend to hide out in their big houses on the King Ranch. Great schools and plenty of recreation which includes gallery walks, restaurant festivals, chili cook-offs, parades and little hidden stores like Rose Valley restoration, where you'll find some of the most talented restorers on the east coast! Great location for people relocating!
