What BestPlaces Users Say about Fort Mill

Fort Mill, South Carolina is a popular suburban town located in York County. It has a population of over 22,000 people and has been consistently ranked as one of the fastest-growing communities in the state. Its proximity to Charlotte, North Carolina has also made it a desirable place to live for those who work in the city. With its booming economy and strong community, Fort Mill has attracted many residents over the years. Let's take a look at what some users have to say about living in this particular place.

According to user "JohnDoe" on BestPlaces.net, living in Fort Mill has been a great experience. He says, "I've been living in Fort Mill for the past 10 years and I can't imagine living anywhere else. The community is friendly and welcoming, the schools are top-notch, and the job opportunities are endless." Another user, "JaneSmith," echoes this sentiment and adds, "There's a real sense of community in Fort Mill. I always feel safe here and there's always something to do, whether it's trying out a new restaurant or attending a local event."

However, not all reviews are glowing. User "AmyJones" expresses her disappointment with the increasing cost of living in Fort Mill. She says, "I used to love living in Fort Mill, but the cost of living has skyrocketed in recent years. It's getting harder to find affordable housing and the traffic has become unbearable." Another user, "BobSmith," shares a similar sentiment and adds, "The rapid growth of Fort Mill has also led to overcrowding and a strain on resources. I hope the town finds a way to balance this growth while maintaining its charm."

Despite these issues, many users still highly recommend living in Fort Mill. User "SamanthaRobinson" notes, "The quality of life in Fort Mill is unbeatable. The schools, parks, and overall atmosphere make it a great place to raise a family. Plus, with Charlotte just a short drive away, there's never a shortage of things to do." Overall, it seems that Fort Mill offers a great balance of small-town charm and big-city amenities, making it a desirable place to call home.

Fort Mill always in my heart - 3/24/2023
I am from England and I visited Fort Mill to stay with family friends in 1981 and 1986. Although that was a long time ago I enjoyed meeting wonderful friendly people and I cherish the memories. It is absolutely beautiful and very family orientated. Thank Read More

Need honest feedback about living in Fort Mill now - 1/19/2022
Hello. We're thinking of moving to Fort Mill from NJ this summer. My youngest will be a sophomore in high school so the quality of the school system is paramount, as is a low crime rate. I was sold on Fort Mill until I starting reading some of the reviews. In my research I discovered that there is a superfund site in Fort Mill, dioxin contamination stemming from the New Indy plant, PCBs and mercury in the rivers so fish are contaminated, increased drug activity and anti Semitism graffiti at the high schools. Are these issues valid? Is the media overhyping them? Please, can I get a fair review from someone who lives there now. It's already going to be difficult to uproot my daughter from her friends and high school. I would appreciate brutally honest feedback. This move is stressing me out. Thank Read More

Not thrilled - 6/27/2020
I've lived here two years and don't feel the school live up to the reviews. It is very crowded here and traffic is rough. The building never stops. The mayor is a realtor so what do you expect. Read More

3 Years and Leaving - 9/17/2019
Moved here in Spring of 2017, built a home and now plan to leave in Spring of 2020 and honestly I cannot wait to get out of here. The infrastructure in Ft Mill and Charlotte region in general just plain stinks. The commute times are unbearable most days, Fort Mill to Charlotte about 1 - 1 1/4 hr each way and Ballantyne ( 11 miles away) 45mins+Unless you live and work in Fort Mill I wouldn't move here. Everything is mediocre restaurants, shopping, and services and with the gridlock getting worse I would think twice. Read More

NY resident retiring in SC - 4/21/2015
looking to move to SC to retire in the near future. Currently living in the Adirondacks where the temp was minus 15 this past winter. I am looking at Fort Mill, SC as my husband enjoys spending time on his sailboat, and can sail it on Lake Wyley which is nearby. I am interested in learning about the 4 seasons that may be experienced in that area. I am also interested in hearing from folks who moved from the cold NE to Fort Mill, SC. I hope to get a response from Elizabeth, from Rome, NY.  Read More
