Maryville tn great place to live with small town f - 7/22/2019
I've lived in Maryville for 41 yrs and absolutely love it. Has everything. it's still got that small town feel. Plus within 30 min drive I can be in Knoxville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg, and best Smokey Mountain National park. 15 min from my house is what they call motorcycle riding heaven in Deals gap or Tail of Dragon 318 curves in 11 miles on Tenn. North Carolina border. The weather year round is great but fall and leave changes here is absolutely breath taking especially with the mountains in backdrop. crime rate is low especially compared to areas like Nashville Memphis and even Knoxville. school systems are top notch especially Maryville City schools and Alcoa city Schools. It has been great place to live and raise my children who are now starting their own family. Blount Memorial Hospital just down road and 20 min to U.T. hospital. cost of living is alot better than almost everywhere I have ever been. Read More

Beautiful mountains and the arts - 2/25/2010
I grew up in Tennessee but only moved back to Maryville a year and a half ago. I'd forgotten how much there is to do and see here, but I didn't forget the beauty of the Smoky Mountains and the Cherokee National Forest. We are surrounded by beauty everywhere and there is something to do for everyone!
We are roughly 30 minutes from Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. There is every type of outdoor sport you can imagine such as hiking, canoeing, white water rafting, hang gliding, water skiing and snow skiing just to name a few. Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg offer water parks, musical dinner shows, tons of outlet malls, specialty shops, a great aquarium and countless other activities.
Maryville college is located here and is a private college rich in the arts having just opened its new Clayton Center for the Arts. We have a lovely downtown with nice restaraunts, cafe's, bakeries, some night spots and quaint shops.

What a wonderful place to live. - 3/18/2008
My Dad was in the Air Force for 24 years. We wound up settling in this wonderful town when my Dad retired, and I have been here ever since - going on 32 years! I have two children and have every confidence in our school systems. We are close to everything - the Smoky Mountains, various lakes, big entertainment in Knoxville (concerts, Knoxville Opera Company, Knoxville Symphony, etc) and the Foothills Fall Festival which was voted best in the South. No rushing here and there. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the Read More
