Let me tell you. Jackson Tennessee has become a literal hell hole. This is where America sends it's dreams to die. The city is riddled with crime and it's a small city so the crime is hard to get away from. The local school systems have failed countless of generations. The economy is horrible. The opportunity in this city is little to none. The rent and housing markets are having the audacity to raise prices. All the while the average entry level job will pay you $7 to $9. Factory work will bring you in $9 to $12. Most of all of the businesses here are poorly managed. It takes no less than 1.5 yrs for a brand new brick and mortar company building to transform into the saddest most pathetic version of it's self. Old hickory mall has become a gloomy ghost town. It's a small reflection of all the chaos that Memphis TN is known for, but condensed into a bit size package. If you have any dreams or ambitions, my advice is to avoid this city at all cost. Remember, the city of Jackson TN is a Read More

Great place to live and raise a family - 10/24/2019
We moved to Jackson in 2015 and have enjoyed getting to know this great community. We are pleased with the hospitality of the residents here. We have 4 Colleges and Universities here and several more within a 30-45 minute drive. There are a lot of great companies here that are hiring, so finding a job will not be Read More

LANA Proud! - 6/25/2014
I live in Jackson, TN in the LANA district. I am originally from upstate NY, and have lived all over the States since we were military. I have to say Jackson is the sweetest little city we've ever lived. It has everything you need, the columns offer great shopping and downtown has a real hipster feel that's growing. We love the year round farmers market and the Lift center. It's hard to describe the feel of this town but from the minute we arrived we have been made to feel welcome and embraced by this community. The LANA district is the historic district where I live and it is as cute as can be, and we walk everywhere and feel perfectly safe. I lived in Memphis for 8 years and it's nothing like that. People are really friendly here! I feel like we finally found a town where southern hospitality is genuine and not a cliche' and where children grow up and want to stay and raise there own children. What more can I say, we found Jackson to be the best hometown anyone could ask Read More

Recreation in Jackson - 1/1/2014
There really isn't any in Jackson. Memphis or Nashville are your only options for adult, family or child entertainment. Yes, they have a couple of theaters in town. More churches and banks than any small town needs. We've been here for 2 years and can't wait to get out.  Read More

Rasons not to live in Jackson - 5/11/2008
I lived in or around Jackson for most of my life. There are many reasons not to live in Jackson, but to me the biggest reason is the crime. I owned a business there and was the victim of several break-ins, thefts and shoplifting. The police department is virtually ineffective. I was told one time by the police that if I found my property to let them know. I thought that was their job. The crime, along with the lack or cultural activities, outdoors recreation and racial relations is enough reason for me to never set foot there Read More

Great town to grow up in. - 4/1/2008
Tennessee is a great place to live. Good climate, low taxes, no state income tax, great roads, excellent governor, UT Vols, etc. Jackson is close to Memphis' and Nashville's shopping, pro-sports teams & nightlife. Memphis, TN river, Pickwick lake & golf courses, Chickasaw Park, Natchez Trace all within 1 hour drive.
Jackson has several excellent private schools, due in part to the decline of the Jackson-Madison County Schools and the racial divide caused by trying to enforce our desegregation lawsuit. We are busing kids from South Jackson to North Jackson and from North Jackson to South Jackson for school every day to meet racial classroom quotas under court order, a complete waste of money, and placing kids in uncomfortable environments. Of course. the private schools in North Jackson have tremendous growth, teachers and facilities.
South and East Jackson contain public housing and lower income housing, resulting in more than average crime rates. However this is Read More

Great for family - 6/15/2006
Lived here for 4 1/2 years. I like all of the trees and nature parks close by. We take our 4 small children to Natchez Trace State Park to hike and picnic. Also to Pinson Mounds Arch. Park, and Cypress Grove Nature Park. All the shopping you need and restaurants too. We also love all of the day trips here, go to Memphis or Nashville, both are really pretty and fun Read More
