Avoid this nightmare of a town - 1/19/2018
Taxes are insanely high considering there is nothing here. No improvements are ever made. The local business owners keep out new business that could bring in jobs and money, which must be desperately needed since they raise taxes every year. There was a vote on whether to sell beer in convenience stores, which was strongly opposed by the churches, those who operate little beer stores outside town, and the couple who owns both bars in Canadian, a town referred to as "wholly dry" by those who opposed the proposition. The schools are a disaster and unless you can claim several generations here, don't expect your children to be treated decently or to have any ill treatment of them to be addressed. the city water prices have tripled in the last year, they never pick up you trash on time. the water tastes like it was filtered through a pool sock, the city has no planning common sense and spends money unwisely. If you wish to live in Canadian you better be rich, taxes are higher than any town of similar size in the panhandle. Read More
