Cedar Park, Texas is a suburb located just north of Austin, known for its family-friendly atmosphere, top-rated schools, and affordable housing. With a population of over 79,000, it offers a small-town feel with big-city amenities. Many people have chosen to call Cedar Park home, and here is a summary of what some residents have to say about living in this particular place.

According to Sarah R. on Best Places, "I've lived in Cedar Park for almost 10 years now and I love it. It's a great community with plenty of activities, events, and things to do for families. The schools are top-notch and the people are friendly." Similarly, Andrew M. adds, "I've lived in several different cities in Texas, and Cedar Park is by far my favorite. It has everything you need within a short drive, and I feel safe and comfortable here." These reviews highlight the appeal of Cedar Park for families and the overall welcoming atmosphere of the community.

However, not everyone has had a positive experience in Cedar Park. As Jennifer B. shares, "I've been living here for a few months now and I already can't wait to move. The traffic is terrible, and the cost of living is higher than I expected. Plus, there isn't much to do here unless you want to drive into Austin." This review offers a different perspective, emphasizing the potential downsides of living in this area.

On the other hand, John D. raves about the location and amenities of Cedar Park, stating "I love the convenience of being able to easily access both Austin and the beautiful Texas Hill Country. The restaurants, parks, and shopping options in Cedar Park are fantastic, and I couldn't be happier with my choice to live here." This review highlights the close proximity to both urban and natural attractions, making it an ideal location for those who enjoy a mix of city and outdoor living.

Overall, the majority of user reviews on Best Places paint a positive picture of living in Cedar Park, with a strong sense of community, excellent schools, and a convenient location being some of the most commonly praised aspects. However, there are also a few negative opinions, emphasizing the traffic and higher cost of living. Ultimately, each person's experience may vary, but it seems that Cedar Park offers many desirable qualities for those looking to make it their home.

Cedar Park opinion - 3/11/2006
I have lived in Cedar Park for 9 years.

The commute to Austin is about 30 minutes except during rush hour. During rush hour the commute can take 45 minutes to 1 hour. They are currently building an expressway around Cedar Park (183A) to connect to the existing 183 highway. This should greatly improve the traffic condition. The longest part of the commute is getting out of Cedar Park. With the traffic, from the North, routed around the town this should improve rush hour commutes. The current alternative is to leave for work before 6 am.

The schools are fair to good and seem to be improving.

The home prices are reasonable. You can get a 1500 sqft. home for about $125k or a 2500 sqft. for about $185k.

Overall, I would recommend Cedar Park as long as you can put up with the traffic in to Austin. Given that the town is growing at a crazy pace, I would say the town officials have done a reasonably good job at keeping pace with it.  Read More
