Better than expected - 5/5/2017
Del Rio is really a pretty great place. My family has transplanted here - it has it's pro's and con's - having lived in both big cities and small towns, but overall, it's much better than we expected. Keeping an open mind is key - a lot of the military families come here thinking it will be terrible and don't keep an open mind to a lot of the great things the city/area has to offer - and really miss out in my opinion.  Read More

My wife and I have lived here for 2 1/2 years. We are both age 40's. like it very much. There is very little crime. Truly, chances are you will never heard or be exposed to any. It has short, mild winters. Summer gets hot, but not so hot you'll die. There is a Wal-Mart and a small mall. If you do not need to shop everyday at new locations, what is here will serve you fine. Del Rio is not a "party" town, which is why you do not have many of the associated problems you have at party cities/towns. It is family oriented, quiet, and mainly Hispanic. People are friendly. Well paying jobs are very scarce. Del Rio is a very good place to live if you already will have a job lined up or want to retire here. I have lived in several areas of the US and DR is the best Read More
