The police in Garland have the reputation of being VERY heavy-handed. I have spoken with several people here in Dallas who said, "don't go there, they will rip you out through the window on a traffic stop". I have no way of knowing if it is true or not, there have been some stories to that effect in the news, though. To be honest, I never would have "cause" to go to Garland, and after hearing these stories, really don't want to

I LOVE Garland. I have lived here in the same house for 35 years. City services are very good, and the schools are excellent. We spend less than the average American city on education, but get more for our bucks! Our sons both attended Garland schools, and they are both successful in their chosen professions. Some of our grandchildren have had the opportunity to attend Garland schools before moving out of state, and they not only enjoyed the experience, they were placed in advanced classes in their new location.
We have wonderful parks throuhout the city that offer many special programs for both children and adults. Our Senior Center is one of the best in the Dallas area. I have never called the City about any problem that wasn't resolved promptly, and the customer service reps have always been courtious. We have two big lakes for people who like water sports, and wonderful shopping opportunites for anything a person could want.

At the moment we are in the middle of a huge drought. Rain is promised by weather men only to be a 10 min shower and nothing worth turning of the sprinklers
