Tolerable living for Texas - 9/19/2006
Let me be frank.. I really can't stand living in Texas. The Houston/Katy area is not my home but I have lived here for 5 years. I hate the climate, the traffic, the size and the city of Houston as a whole. However since I have to work here for now, I must say living in Katy has made it tolerable.
Katy is about 21 miles West of Houston. Katy is not in a flood zone and thats huge here in Houston area. Katy schools are suppose to be very good (not that it matters to me much as we do not have children). Katy has multiple restaurants and access to a large Mills Mall. The homes are very affordable in Katy. You can get a 2000 sq ft home for under $140,000 in many areas. Traffic in katy isn't quite as bad as Houston but if you need to go downtown then you will have to fight the traffic.
Obviously the climate isn't any different that Houston. Katy just doesn't get as much of the rain. Flooding is normally not a problem in Katy and it is not in a flood zone. There
