What BestPlaces Users Say about Montgomery

Montgomery, Texas is a small city located north of Houston with a population of just over 1,000 people. Known for its charming downtown area and access to Lake Conroe, Montgomery attracts residents looking for a quieter, more suburban lifestyle. However, with limited job opportunities and a higher cost of living compared to other Texas cities, living in Montgomery may not be for everyone. Let's take a look at what some users have to say about their experience living in this particular place.

1. "I have lived in Montgomery for over 20 years and have seen it grow and change. It's a great place to raise a family with good schools and a strong sense of community. However, the cost of living has definitely gone up in recent years and job opportunities are limited. But overall, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else." - John S.

2. "Montgomery has a lot of potential but it lacks diversity and entertainment options. The downtown area is cute but there's not much to do besides eat at the local restaurants. It's a nice place to retire but not ideal for young professionals." - Sarah P.

3. "I moved to Montgomery for the small-town feel and access to the lake. But I was surprised by how expensive it is to live here. The housing market is booming and it's getting harder to find affordable options. But the community is friendly and the natural beauty of the area is unbeatable." - Michael D.

4. "I've lived in Montgomery my whole life and have seen it transform into a bustling city. The growth has brought more amenities and job opportunities, but it's also brought more traffic and higher housing costs. It's a balancing act for the city to maintain its small-town charm while also keeping up with the growth." - Amanda G.

Great Winters, Short Springs, Steam Bath Summers a - 4/8/2014
Summers on Lake Conroe are lovely casual, quaint, but extremely humid, hot and buggy. Temperatures reach as high as 105% in August and September. Summers last from June through October.

Winters are delightful and temperatures rarely are below 32%, not more than 3-4 days per season. The average temperature during the afternoon is in the 55-65% range.

Spring is lovely and far too short. It arrives in mid April and vanishes sometime in mid May.

Recreation around Lake Conroe - 6/22/2010
Nice large lake with plenty or room to ski, boat, and fish. We have many beautiful homes in established and new neighborhoods surrounding the lake and a national forest on the north end. Plenty of golfing opportunities with three private courses around the lake, one course associated with a La Torretta del Lago and a public course east of the lake toward Conroe.  Read More

Totally Incorrect Information - 11/24/2009
As of 2009, Montgomery is thriving.

An average cost of a house here is 300,000 now I hear.
Teachers have around 30 students.
There are about 500 kids in each grade level of school, not the whole town.

I have lived in Montgomery for 10 years, this year. I have seen it when there was no walmart, and when there was only one elementary, no big stores, shops, or eateries.

As for the humidity, well it's horrible. Hairspray is all I have to say there.

In 5 years, Montgomery will be so different, there is so much construction. The lake is the epicenter of it Read More

We have lived in Montgomery for 2 years, It is a very friendly, easy going place to live, However the humidity is terrible. Most uncomfortable place to live. The property taxes are way to high for the services provided. We love the people, the countryside is beautiful but we're moving, just trying to find the right place. Any Read More
